Tattoos Design

Tattoos
Tattoos are wonderful pieces of body art. But, there are a few things to keep in mind before you get your favorite design inked into your skin as a tattoo. The most important thing to keep in mind is the health risk. Because tattoos involve using a needle which breaks the skin, you can be exposed to several different complications. These include both infectious diseases and possible allergic reactions. Though in reality the chance of contracting a disease is very small in most professional parlors. This is done primarily through the exclusive use of single use needles and autoclaves, though these aren’t used much anymore. A less significant risk is that the trace metal elements in the tattoo pigments, particularly in red and green pigments, will cause an allergic reaction. I once had an allergic reaction to calcutta black. The reaction wasn’t severe but it did cause much of the ink to leak out of the tattoo. If your not sure if your allergic to a particular ink then have your artist test a small area of your skin first. If you follow these recommendations you can get the design of your dreams without any complications.
Tattoos
When your looking for tattoo designs or tattoo flash don’t just limit yourself to the manufactured ones that are available on the internet. There are thousands of different designs in the world with probably millions of different configurations. What you really need to focus on is finding the right design for you and that takes a little research. Of course you can start off looking for tattoos on the internet, that will provide you some great examples of what can be done. But, don’t end your research there. Take a trip to your local library and see if the have any books on tattoos. If they don’t have them then don’t fret. Take a look at their folklore or mythology section. You will often find some great ideas for tattoos. Also, it might be worth taking a look at the magazine section as well. See what tattoos the latest celebrities are sporting on the bodies. And after taking all this information in then your ready to take the next step, which is simply to wait. That’s right take some time and think about what you want to have done and where you want to have it placed. Then after you have given it some thought you can proceed with your tattoo. All these steps insure that you not only get a design that fits you but also one that you won’t regret later.

Foot Tattoos

Foot Tattoos
If you like the foot tattoo in this picture then you might want to run out and get one done right away. But, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind first. Foot tattoos must be cared for in a certain way. Especially as they are healing. Foot tattoos are more likely to become infected then other locations on the body, which is another reason why some tattooist are reluctant to do them. Your new foot tattoo needs to be kept clean, dry and free from any dirt particles. You have to be especially careful to not let anything that will irritate it come into contact with it. This means that shoes or socks are not to be worn, or worn only occasionally if at all possible for at least a couple of weeks after the tattoo has been inked. This will allow your foot tattoo to lose any of the swelling it may have. Plus, you have to remember that if a tattoo is being constantly rubbed then the ink can come out of it until it heals. So, extra precautions and forethought has to be put into it before you even get the ink flowing.
Foot Tattoos
It is usually women who are interested in foot tattoos, but personally, I think they look pretty cool on guys too. That is if they choose the right type of design. I would think the first thing you should do is choose a design that best reflects your own personality and style. But you do want to make sure to take your time so that you don’t make a mistake. One of the most typical mistakes is people getting something that is so trendy that in ten years it looks silly and it gives away your age. Some people may not care about that but I know that others certainly do.

The most common foot tattoos on the top of the foot but some people actually choose to get their foot tattoos put on the bottom of their feet. I am not really sure why as that seems it would be very painful and much harder to heal and of course, very few people are ever going to see it. Not to mention that a tattoo on the bottom of the foot will not have as much color nor near as much detail as one on the top of the foot.

Deer Tattoos

Deer Tattoos
This is a perfect example of a deer tattoo. It’s beauty and graceful nature is a siren call beckoning us to the wild. But, the deer is more then just a symbol of nature and in many cultures has a deep symbolism associated with it. China has many symbols for happiness and good fortune, and the deer is one of them. In fact, in Chinese, the words ‘deer’ and ‘abundance’ sound the same. Buddhists like to tell the story of their master’s first teaching, when his blissful presence attracted even the wild animals of the region, most notably the deer. And in both the Celtic and Native American cultures, the deer had a special talent for sniffing out medicinal herbs, earning it special respect and status in life and folklore. The image of a slain deer with herbs in its mouth has even assumed special significance in the art world as a symbol of unrequited love, lost love, or love sickness. And if a deer is seen trampling a snake under it’s hooves then it’s a symbol of overcoming personal temptation. So, as you can see getting a deer tattoo pronounces not only one’s love for the wild but also has a significant spiritual meaning.
Deer Tattoos
Many people consider a deer tattoo to be a design that only belongs on hunters or nature lovers. But, did you know that deer tattoos have symbolic significance in many different cultures and mythologies? A deer is not only symbolic of luck for Asian cultures but it is also a symbol for abundance. And it’s a symbol for abundance in not just the East but in almost every civilization that the creature is prevalent in. To native Americans, the deer was also a symbol for rebirth. It’s arrival often signally the start of spring or the end of summer. Also, in some cultures deer are synonymous for virtue and on occasion passion. The deer tattoo can also have a meaning associated with love, believe it or not. A deer tattoo with a branch or thistles in it’s mouth is symbolic of forlorn love. The deer tattoo in the picture is a cross between a naturalistic depiction of this animal and a tribal design. I really like how the whole motif flows and still retains the characteristics of this beautiful and peaceful creature of nature. This is a design that can be blended into almost any body of tattoo work.

Japanese Dragon Tattoo

Japanese Dragon Tattoo
This is one of my favorite Japanese dragon tattoos. I like the way it wraps from his shoulder blade, up around the shoulder and down the front of the chest. This Japanese dragon tattoo also has a very sad look on it’s face like it had just been defeated in battle or something. And though I wasn’t sure about it when I first saw it, I eventually came to realize that I really liked the monotone color of this design. I believe this Japanese dragon tattoo to be a symbol of luck and wisdom. Of course all tattoos are about personal expression and therefore the meaning of any tattoo is really derived by the person wearing the tattoo. There are not any hard and fast rules that a tattoo must always represent just one thing. Instead each tattoo and tattoo design will mean something unique and different to the bearer of the tattoo. Therefore any discussion of the symbolism or meaning of a dragon tattoo must be taken in that light. As is the case with any tattoo, the bearer is the one who makes the design special and unique. It should be a personal representation of the person.
Japanese Dragon Tattoo
Japanese dragon tattoos can be beautiful additions to any collection of body art. But, if your looking for an authentic Japanese dragon tattoo then that can require a little bit of research. And that’s because there is very little known about the Japanese dragon and there are very few good examples available online. But, with a little patience and fore knowledge you can find a design that’s not only beautiful but one that is also to the Japanese dragon motif. The first thing to look for when finding the appropriate dragon is the number of claws on it’s feet. Chinese dragons have four claws, but Japanese dragons only have three. Another thing to consider is that in Japanese dragon tattoos, the dragons are much more slender and serpent like then in other cultures. Many of the famous Japanese dragons can be seen in the picture. From left to right they are Ka Riu, Han Riu and Kanji Ryu. That’s the perfect start from which you can find the design that your looking. And as you can plainly see, a Japanese dragon tattoo can not only be dazzling but also rich in symbolic meaning. So, why not start your quest for one today.

Foot Tattoo

Foot Tattoo
A foot tattoo can look quite striking. There’s no question that one peeking out of a sexy shoe of a woman can be very attractive. And it just so happens that they are the most popular among women. Quite possibly for that very reason. The only thing a woman needs to decide is what she would like to see on her foot. Flowers tend to be the most popular design but there are certainly many other designs which someone can be very happy with. There could be stars or clouds, a koi fish, a dragon or just about anything the imagination can come up with. If you or your artist can draw it, then it can be tattooed onto your foot.

But before you get a foot tattoo there are a few drawbacks that you need to know about. Foot tattoos tend to be much more painful than most others because the skin is so close to bone. In fact, some tattoo artists won’t even do foot tattoos for this very reason. Also, if you grit your teeth and get the foot tattoo the initial care of it takes a bit more effort than a normal tattoo does. It’s not that big of deal but it needs to be said up front and you need to be aware of it.

Foot Tattoo
Foot tattoos can often be beautiful pieces of art. Just take a look at the cartoon sparrow in the picture. It looks real good on the top of this person’s foot, but you know that it really had to hurt. Especially with all the color shading. And another problem with a foot tattoo is that they require a lot of care. So, let’s take a quick look at what’s required to maintain a foot tattoo so that it keeps it’s color and sheen. After getting your foot tattoo make sure that you let it breathe. It’s going to need plenty of air, so either go without shoes or at the very least wear sandals. The more air you let your foot tattoo get the quicker the design will heal. The next step, keep your foot elevated while you sleep to relieve some of the swelling. It is completely normal for your foot to swell. How large it swells up depends on how much you are on your feet each day. Step number three; Your tattoo artist will recommend an antibiotic cream to apply to your foot tattoo for the first few days. And the final piece of advice. Do not under any circumstances pick at the foot tattoo. This can cause pitting or scarring so be careful. If you follow these guidelines you will have a piece of art you can enjoy a lifetime.

Dragonfly Tattoos

Dragonfly Tattoos
Dragonfly tattoos are symbolic of independence, freedom and beauty. Their hues are across the entire color spectrum, from silver to blue and red. But, what makes dragonfly tattoos important are it’s symbolic qualities derived from it’s biology. Dragonflies, like butterflies, go through a metamorphosis. This magical change has been viewed for centuries as a beautifying process. It is a process that is also marked by newfound freedom as the dragonfly can now flutter away from the cocoon, and its past, and travel towards a new life. Therefore, beauty and positive change are some of the meanings behind dragonfly tattoo designs and why they are sought out by so many who want to physically represent their own inner beauty and changes in life. With the dragonfly’s ability to swirl, hover, fly backwards and loop-the-loop, dragonfly tattoo designs also represent free spirits and the independence of mankind. In Native American astrology, there is a strong belief that each person has a totem animal spirit which serves as their guardians and guides through certain phases of life. And one of these totem spirits was the spirit of the dragonfly. It would adopt men and women, young and old. Therefore, the dragonfly tattoo can be adopted by both males and females alike.
Dragonfly Tattoos
If you want an interesting and beautiful tattoo design then the dragonfly tattoo might just fit your needs. To some people the dragonfly may seem a pest, but that is usually because they do not recognize the differences between many members of the insect family and wrongly blame all of them for the annoyances caused by a few. In fact, dragonflies eat other pesky insects such as mosquitoes and don’t bite humans themselves. This makes them quite useful insects. The symbolism of dragonfly tattoos may come from a little known Japanese legend. According to the story, a dragonfly once ate a horsefly immediately after it had bitten the emperor. He was so happy with this that he named what is now the island of Japan, Asitsushuma, which roughly translates as ‘Island of the dragonfly". Dragonflies in Japan are often regarded as symbols of success, happiness and victory. Where you put the dragonfly tattoo is also of importance. A dragonfly place on the hip may be a sign of femininity, while one that is placed on the back is significant of strength or endurance. This tattoo designs looks especially good on the back of the lower leg, abdomen or even as a hip tattoo.

Fish Tattoos

Fish Tattoos
Fish tattoos are commonly becoming more and more popular as a design element. And one of the most popular fish tattoo designs is the Koi fish. But, what’s the symbolism and history behind this ancient Japanese animal? Let’s go over the basics. Koi are actually a form of carp and have been raised and bred in Japan for who know, probably hundred of years. If you have been to Japan you will notice they are a common feature in most traditional Japanese gardens. They have been seen in China even before they were popular in Japan. And they are a considered a symbol of perseverance or strength. That’s probably because of its determination to overcome hardships. As such it also represents courage and the ability to attain any goal set before the bearer. Fish tattoos, including the Asian carp, are also known for good fortune and good luck. Koi are so popular in Japan that they are often the center of many festivals. So, the next time your thinking of getting a fish tattoo then you might want to get a Koi design. And hopefully, this fish tattoo will be the bearer of luck and good tidings.
Fish Tattoos
This fish tattoo is a whimsical representation of an animal that is steeped in history and symbolic meaning the world over. Let’s talk a little about it’s significance, shall we? For many of the world’s ancient cultures the fish was the symbol of water, mother, and great goddess. Early myth relates that the fish was the vulva of Isis, who, taking the form of the fish, swallowed the penis of Osiris. The fish then stood for the feminine and her reproductive powers. The Celts also used the fish symbol as representing female sexuality and birth. In Hindu culture, the fish was a marriage symbol. When a bride first enters the house of her husband, she does so with a fish in her hand. But, the fish tattoo has meanings in Asian cultures as well. Fish play an important role in many Asian cultures as entities to ward off evil spirits, or to bring harmony and prosperity into the home. The fish is the water symbol, an essential element in Chinese ‘feng shui’. The goldfish is synonymous with good fortune, while a goldfish leaping over a wave is the symbol of man’s ability to transcend. The goldfish is leaving the lower regions and ‘jumping’ to a higher ground of being. The goldfish also represents longevity, wisdom, loyalty and knowledge, and is a popular creature in Chinese mythology. A fish tattoo can not only be a beautiful or cute design, but as you can see here it’s also one that is a powerful symbol around the world.

Butterflies Tattoos Design

Butterflies Tattoos
Butterflies tattoos are the second most popular tattoo designs today. Some are more animated and cartoon like and some very true-to-life. But, choosing the correct design to highlight the potential of this magnificent insect can be a truly daunting task. Believe me when I tell you that there are quite a few species of this insect. As a matter of fact, there are thousands upon thousands of them. First, we’ll take a look at real butterfly photography, then we’ll explore simpler, more animated clip art. If you do a simple search on the world wide web, your sure to find a lot of fantastic pictures of these magnificent and beautiful little buggers. And when choosing a butterfly tattoo design, nothing can compare to the beauty that can be found naturally. Mother nature really has some incredible designs when it comes to butterflies. Consider the butterflies tattoo in the picture. It’s a cross between a tribal butterfly design and a cartoon depiction of butterflies. It’s done with bright pigments and would make a fantastic design. It just goes to show you what can be done with a whole lot of inspiration, and an eye pointed towards the beauty of mother nature.
Butterflies Tattoos
If your looking for a feminine way to express your personal style then why not try getting a butterflies tattoo. But, before you commit one moment to getting the design inked into your skin then do some research and find a talented and qualified tattoo artist. You sure don’t want to get a butterflies tattoo design dreamed up that has a ton of personality and style and then have it inked by a sub standard tattoo artist. Then you might end up with something that doesn’t look anything like your original butterflies tattoo or one where the color isn’t as bright as it should be. And there’s another thing that you need to keep in mind. Did you know that a butterflies tattoo that is poorly done can actually lose it’s color over time? Yep, that’s right, if the artist hasn’t properly inked the butterflies tattoo then the color can actually start bleeding out. That’s usually due to the fact that sub standard artist will use inferior inks. These inks can have numerous problems besides bleeding out. They can cause allergic reaction, or fade too quickly. Then you have a butterflies tattoo that is missing huge chunks of color or is faded. And you don’t want that now do you?

Phoenix Tattoos

Phoenix Tattoos
The phoenix represented in the phoenix tattoo, is thought of as one of the most mystical and mythological of all birds. For this reason it is one of the most popular designs in tattoo artwork. The color associated with the phoenix is red and the element fire. Its origin is thought to be Ethiopian as well. The phoenix’s great significance originates from its symbolism – rebirth, renewal, and life! This is why it is always portrayed as a magnificent and spectacular bird. If the phoenix tattoo design is your favorite and you want to "ink" this symbolic bird on your favorite body location, it will pay to review a number of different phoenix patterns. Size and color are important factors to consider, because you want to be certain that the tattoo is going to blend and coordinate well together. Because there are so many colorful and beautiful phoenix tattoo designs to choose from, your first step should be to visit one of the more popular tattoo galleries. With their wide array of tattoo patterns, you will most assuredly find the perfect phoenix tattoo design for you. The phoenix tattoo in the picture has taken what is usually a male dominant design and applied a lot of light colors to it, to make the design more feminine.
Phoenix Tattoos
The phoenix tattoo in the picture is a great example of a design based on the Chinese version of the phoenix. With the Chinese, the phoenix was very important, with only the dragon holding a more important place in their culture. Only the Chinese Empress was allowed to wear the phoenix as a symbol, which represented the union of yin and yang, symbolizing virtue and grace. But, the phoenix tattoo is an important design in other cultures other then the Chinese. Some Jewish myths have added the the mystique of the phoenix, as they talk about the phoenix as the one living creature that never left the garden of Eden, and it never partook of the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; thus its longevity. The phoenix is also significant to the Japanese, and is an important symbol of theirs, included with the sun. The Japanese like to entwine the phoenix with the dragon, as you can see on many of their tattoos. This also symbolizes yin and yang for the Japanese, mixing the highest qualities of the masculine and feminine together. No matter what culture it’s in however, the phoenix tattoo is associated witha number of good qualities in a person, things like kindness, duty and being reliable, among others.

Sleeve Tattoos

Sleeve Tattoos
The picture of depicts a sleeve tattoo from four different angles. It’s a beautifully done piece that is not only colorful and beautiful but one that flows quite naturally. It is evidently a piece that was designed as sleeve tattoo from the very beginning, which is not always the case. A lot of sleeve tattoos start out as individual designs which are then later linked together. A person might start getting an upper shoulder design and then add a forearm tattoo. Then later on they might add a wrist piece of some sort. Then when the bearer realizes that most of their arm is inked they then turn to their tattoo artist to tie the individual elements together in one design. This can be quite a challenge for a tattoo artist. But, this sleeve tattoo was planned from the very get go. Therefore, it not only looks good but looks that it belongs on the bearers arm. But, I imagine that it was a piece that took several sessions to finish. This is the biggest drawback of the sleeve tattoo that is designed as one piece. You can spend a lot of time with an unfinished design, while a design that evolves from several smaller pieces spends a lot less time unfinished because the smaller tattoos can be done at a faster rate.
Sleeve Tattoos
A sleeve tattoo is any tattoo design that covers a large portion of the arm. Sleeve tattoos can come in a variety of sizes from a full sleeve a half sleeve and even a quarter sleeve all depending on the size. Getting a sleeve tattoo can be a big commitment and should probably not be done without proper and careful consideration first. If you are thinking about getting sleeve tattoo you want to carefully consider the design, the amount of time that it will take, and the amount of money it will cost. Some of you might be wondering why they call a sleeve tattoo and how it is different from regular tattoos? Typically sleeve tattoos are done on arms can also be done on the legs. They are any type of tattoo that fully covers this can so that little to no skin is showing through the tattoo. They’re often called sleeve tattoos because they look very some similar to wearing a long sleeved shirt. Essentially there are two different ways to get a sleeve tattoo done. The first way and probably the most common way is that a person starts by giving individual tattoos. For example they like and a pair of lucky dice or a nice pinup girl tattoo on the forearm that later add a tribal tattoo the shoulder. Over time these individual tattoos will cover larger and larger parts of the arm eventually forming a sleeve tattoo. The second method is when you come up with the full sleeve tattoo design first and then have the tattoo done over multiple sessions.

Tribal Tattoo Designs

Tribal Tattoo Designs
Here we have a few different tribal tattoo designs. I think it is a safe bet to say that all three of these were designed to be placed on the lower back, as they are basically what is referred to as the tramp stamp. But don’t let a nick name like that bother you. When people, especially girls, first starting getting these types of tattoos there may have been a certain stigma attached to having one, but not anymore. They have become way to common place. Today it is normal to find one on the average young housewife and that is only because they have become generally accepted in today’s society.

It’s hard to find someone who does not think tribal tattoo designs are cool. Even if none of the three of them in this picture does it for you, there are thousands more you can look at, probably even more than that. In short there is really no end to them and if you are really looking to get one, you will, sooner or later, find the one you like and when you do you will enjoy it all that much more.

Tribal Tattoo Designs
Tribal tattoo designs were employed by ancient cultures for many reasons. A lot of these reasons are still relevant today so let’s take a look behind the motivation for and the symbology of tribal tattoo designs. First and foremost, tribal tattoo designs were used to identify clans. This was particularly important on the field of battle. It allowed for quick and easy identification of friends from foes. Another important reason for the tattoo was marriage tattoos. These are what couples would get when they got married to highlight the fact that they belonged to each other. It is not unusual for lovers today to share the same tattoo. Tribal tattoo designs were also used as rites of passage. young man who couldn’t take it would be seen as unfit for battle or hunting, often dooming him to the role of outcast. Today, many teenagers eagerly await their eighteenth birthday and celebrate their entrance to adulthood by getting a tattoo. And the final and most important reason that these tattoos were gotten was to display individuality. There are hundreds, if not thousands of variations on the tribal tattoo theme, so it can become as personal as a thumbprint to a person.

Henna Tattoo

Henna Tattoo
Here we have what can only be called a very intricate henna tattoo. One that covers nearly every square inch of this persons hand. A henna tattoo is not a real tattoo of course. If this one were a real tattoo this person would probably not have been able to use that hand for a few days after getting it. The pain and swelling would have been severe in most cases and bad in the best cases. But all in all this is a good piece of tribal style artwork. And I am sure it has some particular significance in the tribal world but it is not apparent to those of us who are not extremely familiar with such things.

I must admit that I first had a few different henna tattoos before I ever got a real one. The first one I got I did to fool my friends and told them it was a real tattoo and yes, it did work. Then the next few I did to sort of test the waters on tattoos that I was thinking of getting. And doing that gave me a good idea if I would really like them or not. One of those I did not get, the other one I did get. So henna tattoos can be of some help.

Henna Tattoo
Henna tattoos usually refer more to the ink used then the actual style or design of tattoos, though there is a particular style of tattooing made up of Eastern symbols and geometric designs that are called henna tattoos. The designs closely resemble those of traditional tribal designs. It’s a practice employing henna powder which is known locally throughout the Middle East and North Africa as ‘Henna’ or ‘Hene’. Henna powder that is used for henna tattoos is made from the crushed leaves of the Henna Plant, also known as Lawsonia Inermis. It’s a tall shrub like plant that thrives in hot and dry climates. To produce the finest quality henna powder the leaves are air-dried, out of direct sunlight, in order to preserve the staining properties. The dried leaves are then ground into a fine powder, ready for preparing henna paste. Historically, across all of the Eastern regions where women have traditionally hennaed each other, the application is often strongly linked with ceremonial & celebratory occasions, like weddings and religious festivals. Henna tattoos when they are properly done with henna ink are some of the most beautiful pieces of body art that you will ever see. It’s a style that will fit in with almost any other motif.

Heart Tattoos Design

Heart Tattoos
Probably The best way to show symbolism of love is the heart tattoo. However the heart tattoo is a symbol that possesses other meanings as well and not just love. Some individuals believed that the heart is the location of the soul. Some religions see the heart as a bed of emotions, while other religions consider the heart the spiritual center of the being. And as you can see from the various designs, there are different type of heart tattoos for different people. Heart tattoos are always a pleasure to look at because of their vibrant color and shapely design. Let’s take a look at some of the designs available, and not just the whimsical ones either. The first choice you have is the classic heart. It’s the classic symbol that you have seen in probably a hundred tattoos, usually with a banner that says ‘mom’ or something similar. The next choice you have is a Celtic heart tattoo. This design is known to stand for a union of souls, is a basic heart that is designed with intricate knots and gives off a true Celtic look. Another possible choice is the angel heart tattoo. This is usually a heart surrounded by wings. Sometimes these symbolize love or devotion to one’s faith, or perhaps represent a love for a deceased love one who they believe is an angel in heaven. And that’s only a small representation of the designs available. So, happy hearting..um I mean hunting!
Heart Tattoos
Here we have an image that gives us nine different versions of heart tattoos. And they range from hearts surrounded by vines to flowers, to a heart held by some sort of animal claw. A heart with devil horns and a devil tail and even a heart with a big steel knife sticking right through it. So even though there are only nine different heart tattoos here they pretty much cover the entire gambit of what can happen to a persons heart.

I never really understood why we consider the heart to be the center of our romantic insides. Why is it, that if someone breaks up with us we say our heart was broken? We all know that is not true, so why do we say it? And why do we feel it? Is it because our heart is the center of our physical life and therefore we make it the center of our emotional wellness, as well? I would suppose it is something like that. Either way getting one of these heart tattoos will probably mean your heart has been broken at least once. Welcome to the club. It happens to us all at least once, usually more than once.

This tattoo reads:

"gerade weil wir alle gleichen boot sitzen sollte wir heilfroh darĂ¼ber sein dass nicht alle auf unserer seite stehen"

Using one of those online translation tools I got:

"straight because we all same boat sit should we over it to be welfare glad that not all on our side to stand"

So my guess is that this means:

"Because we are all on the same boat, we should be glad that not everyone stands on the same side..."

Cool saying! Little heart at the end adds a nice touch to it.
